This has to be the most stunning abbey I've ever seen.. an amazing location .. evocative ruins, cliffs, woodland, a river.. the NT staff are friendly and helpful and it's accessible which is good. Nice facilities.. I think there are audio guides according to the sign but I only had an hour for lunch stop. Recommended if you are in the area... Give it a good half day though as there is plenty to see.
What a brilliant site to visit. The walk from the Visitors Centre was quite long and you need strong shoes. The Abbey was beautiful and probably the best ruins I have ever seen. The gardens on the way back are lovely and well worth the extra walk.
We are regular visitors and the visitor centre has everything you could wish for. The restaurant has a good selection of food including vegetarian options. The site is a dog-friendly environment with sheltered outdoor seating if required. A great day out with lots of walking & photo opportunities.
Fountains abbey is fantastic. There is free parking. Toilets are clean and well maintained. There is a brilliant children's play area, bird hide, cafe and plenty of space for kids to explore. The walks are easily navigatable.
Really Expensive! But has great quality goods in the gift shop. The visitors centre is full of information is a great building and the restaurant is excellent. The abbey is a short walk of a few hundred metres down hill with another information and children's activities half way down the hill. Nearly forgot the kids play area almost worth the entry fee on it's own!
